Escaping Outlines

The paintings of Marty McCorkle stand out to me with his distinct style. He creates movement by allowing his subjects the freedom to escape their outlines. Not always solid, bodies blend and spiral and we not only see the subject, but also immediate past and future. In "Male Figure By Pool At Night", it is easy to imagine the figure just sitting down getting ready to lean over and fall in the pool. All this happens at once, we just happen to see him before he dives in. It seems to be pure luck that we happen to catch him still sitting there.
